In the Middle ages mysticism became a popular religious form of religious expression specifically as result of the Plague and the decadence of the church. It was thought to be a way of renewing Christianity, deepening spirituality and rejuvenating faith.

One of the influential mystics were the mysterious Pseudo Dionysius whose Neoplatonic writings were influential in the middle ages.

The role of mysticism in the church was that they renewed Christianity, when you deepen you spirituality and strengthen you faith of Christianity ad have a closer relationship with God. Mysticism had an effect on stirring up the desire and respect of God in the church in the medieval times, and the people followed mysticism to seek a way to get to know God directly.

The Strengths of mysticism is that you get better relationship with God. Mysticism gives you a better understanding of god. It brings you to become a Christian love your religion and the way you are treating your others properly and not putting Gods name in bad times or cursing him but understanding what he did for you which is giving life.

-Could be hard to share with others and literally impossible to explain in a meaningful way
-Enlightment cant be objectively measured or proven
-Hard top keep mysticism to yourself

The impact that Mystics can have on today's society is that they can make people more closer to god. They make people concentrate to make religion a top priority in their lives. They make Religion an important subject in people's lives.
